Flood the Phones -- Call City Council

Join ECS for a mass Call-In Campaign for affordable housing!

The Ethiopian Community Center (ECS) is forging the path for community-led affordable housing in Seattle. With our Affordable Housing Plan we are telling the city of Seattle that we will do whatever it takes to fight gentrification and build secure and stable housing for our communities. We need to put pressure on city council and let our voices be heard.

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT OUT OF YOUR DAY TO CALL ALL 9 COUNCIL MEMBERS & ASK THEM:

-YES OR NO: Will you vote on May 3rd in support of the Ethiopian Community’s proposal to fund 112 units of affordable housing and an Ethiopian Community Center which provides much needed services to the community?

Make sure to ask for a Yes or No answer and don’t let council members or their staff get off the hook by talking about following processes that go on for years and pit one community against another.

The ECS has a clear proposal and there is more than enough money in Seattle to build it. If they can’t make it happen, then we will elect someone else who can.

FURTHER TALKING POINTS:
We have an affordable housing crisis in Seattle forcing people to live in substandard housing. We must take steps to address this crisis today.
The Ethiopian Community in Seattle has proposed an affordable housing plan - developing a new community center and affordable apartments in Rainier Beach.
- It's important to me that we fund this project. We are an incredibly resourced city, and I know we can allocate money in the Supplementary Budget tomorrow.
- It's time we start taking steps to protect our communities from displacement and gentrification and support community-led housing in Seattle.

FILL CITY HALL! SHOW CITY COUNCIL THAT SEATTLE DEMANDS AFFORDABLE HOUSING NOW!

The Ethiopian Community Center (ECS) is forging the path for community-led affordable housing in Seattle. With our Affordable Housing Plan we are telling the city of Seattle that we will do whatever it takes to fight gentrification and build secure and stable housing for our communities.

We have the plans, the building partners and the land to build 112 units in Rainer Beach. Our building plan will make sure elders are housed and long-time residents of Seattle are no longer pushed out of the city. So why isn’t this project underway?

We know for a fact that the money is here, so on May 3rd Kshama Sawant will be bringing a budget amendment proposal to the City Council include this project in the Supplementary Budget. The only way city council will sign off on this is if we show them how hard Seattle will fight for affordable housing so let’s show up and pack the house! Show city council that SEATTLE DEMANDS AFFORDABLE HOUSING NOW!
